|Pattern Description: |
This fully lined dress is designed to be made in a soft fabric. A neckline yoke and flattering curved midriff provide shape, while gathers at the bust and six gore skirt give soft fullness. Closes with an invisible side zipper.
0 - 18
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Not really, but I made some massive modifications of course.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I didn't really use them since I changed the bodice completely, but I did follow them for my first muslin, and they were very clear!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the skirt part on this pattern, very full but more flattering than a regular gathered skirt. I love the dress on others but didn't like it on myself when I made a muslin, so I kept the skirt and midriff pieces and redrafted the rest of the bodice to make a v-neck with an overlap.
A lovely double gauze by Nani Iro. Perfect summer fabric! Opaque enough so it doesn't have to be lined, and soft as pyjamas.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I changed most of the bodice, the dress fit me well out of the envelope but the gathering just wasn't flattering on me.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I'll definitely make this variation again!
Lovely dress, I'm happy it worked out for me in the end. For more pictures and a tutorial on this variation, visit my blog!
