|Pattern Description: From back of pattern: Child's and Girls' Vests and Skirt|
Pattern Sizing:7, 8, 10, 12, 14 I made 12 in width, 14 in length
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? I didn't use them. They looked quite thorough, though. This is a learn to sew pattern, and it looked as though they assumed the seamstress knew almost nothing about sewing.
Actually, my 13 year old had selected the pattern to use herself, but when I needed a quick vest pattern for her for a play I grabbed it out of the pattern stash.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? The pattern adds a nice little zing to the basic vest idea. The peplum of the vest is cut on a curve, which gives it a graceful drape.
Please note that the waist length may be shorter than you expect for older girls, depending on their growth patterns. Hold the pattern tissue up to them to make sure you like where it hits.
Fabric Used: Mystery fabric donated to the theater.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Instead of applying bias tape to the edges, I used a narrow serged hem.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, someone in this household will probably make it again. I highly recommend it for beginning sewists.
Conclusion: Super easy and really cute. A great example of how a simple variation can end up giving a lot of pizzazz to a garment.
