|Pattern Description: |
I sewed this dress up using a couple of patterns. I used the bodice from New Look 6146 and used the skirt and straps from New Look 6048. The bodice has princess seams, midriff band and contrasting band along the top of the bodice. It is a pleated skirt and I made halter neck straps that are pleated.
I cut out a size 12
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, the bodice looked just like it should and the rest of the dress matched the other pattern envelope perfectly!
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Instructions were really easy to follow. I always think New Look dress patterns are put together in a logical easy to understand way.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I took what I liked the best from two patterns so I donít dislike anything
Cotton from Lisette
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Apart from the mash up of two patterns I followed the instructions. I did add boning to the front, side and back seams to give it some good shape (strips of about 11cm in length) and make sure it stays on and I added about 1.5 inches to the length.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I wouldnít sew this again as I just have too many summer dress ideas floating around in my head. I would recommend this to others particularly if you like something that looks a little vintage.
I love the outcome of this dress and when I gets warmer over here in Oz Iíll be wearing this out a lot!
