|Pattern Description: |
Fitted knit top with banded hems with sleeve and neckline variations.
0-16, I made a 14 that widens out to a 16 below the waist.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, definitely. I thought I was misunderstanding the drawing for the v-neckline, but after watching some videos online I realized I was doing it correctly. I just didn't know what I was doing because it was my first v-neck.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like how it pretty much fit right out of the gate with the exception of needing to be a bit wider at the bottom. I also love how many variations there are!
I used a Sophia rayon doubleknit, which I don't recommend. It's too thick and it doesn't drape very well. I almost bought some bamboo knit from Vogue that I thought would work, but the pattern calls for a stable knit, so I thought the drapey butteriness of the bamboo wouldn't be good and went with the Sophia knit instead. It's definitely wearable, but I think I'll use the bamboo knit next time or something like the 11 oz. rayon jersey from Emma One Sock. As it is, I'm going to have to save this top for the fall when it cools down a bit. It's entirely too hot right now to wear it outside!
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Just widening out to a 16 at the bottom. Even though I'm technically not a pear and these patterns are designed for pears, this was somehow necessary.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, I'm definitely going to sew this again using some of the other variations. I think I might also make some sleeveless exercise shirts out of this pattern because it fits pretty well.
I resisted this one for a long time because I thought I wouldn't like the bottom band. After seeing so many people make it and seeing it look so good on all of them, I decided to give it a shot, and I'm glad I did. I'm a S-L-O-W sewist, but I got it done in one night (not counting the muslin I did). That's a win!
