|Pattern Description: Misses’ dress in two lengths with sleeve variations or tunic sewing pattern|
Pattern Sizing:H5 (6-14)
I am a 33.5 bust. I made a muslin of the bodice at a straight 10 thinking that the pattern would run a bit large but I decided to go with a 10 graded to a 12 at the midriff section and it fit pretty good. Next time around I could probably make it easier on myself and cut a straight 12 as the upper back is a touch tight but I have broad shoulders.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? yes. I made version A.
Were the instructions easy to follow? yes. I especially liked the zipper installation with a side seam pocket. That was new for me and I am ticketed at how well it came out.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the bodice! I thought the "V" neck and front yoke were very flattering. I saw some reviews that the "V" is scandalously low but it was not a problem for me. Low but not distasteful. I am fairly small busted, though, so take that for what it is worth.
Fabric Used: cotton lawn and lined with cotton batiste. I will try to get a picture on the webs soon.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I underlined the bodice and lined the skirt. Also, added 2 inched to skirt length as I am 6 ft tall. Also, after reading the reviews about how the gathering is plentiful on the skirt I cut a size 10 instead of a 12 and was happy with the amount of gathering. I did not find it made ridge on the midriff where the skirt SA is.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?yes. I think it would look dressier in a solid color. Would make a great LBD. Also, I am contemplating a Maxi length version C.
Super pattern. flattering. Comfortable. Great next pattern for a beginner sexist wanting to try some more challenging stuff like pockets, zipper with a pocket, and neckline stabilization
