|Pattern Description: Misses' dress and belt: Very loose-fitting, pullover dress has collar, self-lined yokes, side pockets, sleeves with barrel cuffs, and belt.|
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?Yes, it did.
Were the instructions easy to follow?Yes.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?I love the loose, easy fit, and I absolutely love, love, love the pockets.
Fabric Used:Rayon challis
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:I did a SBA. With such a loose fit, it might seem an unnecessary step, but on me, it neatens up the fit under the arm and at the bust. I chose the collar from View A and the hemline from View B. When stitching the facing, I understitched around the facing before turning it into place and topstitching. Same thing when attaching the pockets - I understitched the pocket at the front piece. Keeps it in place, as well as stabilizing that area. Instead of slipstitching the cuff to finish it, I turned under a bit less than the 5/8" on the wrong side of the cuff, and I edgestitched around the cuff from the right side. I also edgestitched around the belt - helps to keep it "crisper" over washings and such.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?I just might sew this again, if the right fabric turns up. It definitely has to be a very soft fabric, or the whole thing could turn into a potato sac lookalike. Next time I might just shorten the sleeves a little. They're just a tad too long, but nothing serious for this time around. I'd also add to the length, just enough to make a deeper hem. The inch and a quarter that's allowed just doesn't quite do it for me. I would certainly recommend this pattern to others.
This is one very comfortable and easy-to-wear dress.
