Pattern Description: This is a set of pencil skirts, back zip, with waistband or faced waist. Two views are high-waisted and I made one the these, view E.
Pattern Sizing: 8-24. I had the 8-14 collection, but needed a size 18. It was easy to size up 4 inches to the 18 from the 14.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, back is shown in picture.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Didn't read.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I bought the high-waist pattern at the request of my daughter. It's very comfortable to wear-fit is great. Some of the low-waisted styles have a tendency to slide off my hips but this one stays put. I like the panels as well.
Fabric Used: Wool crepe from stash.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Instead of the facing I used Petersham ribbon to finish the waist (learned this from Sandra Betzina's Power Sewing book). Eased waist a bit by crowding while staystitching and stabilized waist with a twill tape before sewing on the Petersham. Invisible zipper. Hand-hemmed.
I shortened the skirt about 2-3 inches to come right above knee.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes.
Conclusion: This is a good basic set of pencil skirts. The high-waisted variations are comfortable and unusual.
