Retro blouse with collar and bow (View B) or scoop neckline (View A).
I made a size 8.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, it did.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Very. Simplicity pattern instructions are fairly easy to understand and this one was no exception.
The collar was a bit complicated as it needed to be sandwiched between the facings and the blouse body. The diagram was clear, though, and I managed to work it out after staring at it for five minutes straight.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
The blouses fit me straight out of the envelope, no adjustments necessary. I also liked the buttonhole guides, they took a lot of the guesswork out of placing the buttonholes.
I was worried about gaping at the armholes and the bust but neither design had this problem.
Cotton shirting for View B and polyester shantung for View A.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I didn't make any changes but I changed the order of the instructions a bit. At one point, you need to make a dart, sew a seam and attach the ties all in one go. I sewed the front vertical darts in advance (not all the way down) and it made the whole process much easier.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, absolutely. I have two for this season but I might make it again next summer.
