|Pattern Description: |
Your standard straight skirt. One pair of darts in the front, two pairs in the back. There's hundreds of tutorials out there on drafting one. This started out as a tracing from Butterick 3037, but it was so heavily altered that it wouldn't be fair to my skirt to admit it started from there
Suiting remnant, black with a subtle pinstripe. It feels like it might contain wool, but maybe not since it isn't itchy.
Full abdomen, tilted pelvis, and full outer thighs. It doesn't quite fit as perfect as I would like.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
This started out as a wearable muslin. Then I realized I couldn't see where I needed to make adjustments properly and had to do a real muslin. So yes, I do plan on making this again with design changes and fitting adjustments.
Up until a few months ago, I'd never owned a straight skirt (I was in a hurry and ended up with the least awful fitting one I could find). Fitting a straight skirt for my body has been a real challenge, but I look forward to having a good template for all of my future skirts once I get it perfected.
