|I ended up doing one additional review for four dresses rather than separate ones. It includes more details on all those versions...|
Review for four plus more photos!
1606 Misses’ & Miss Petite Amazing Fit Dress
Misses’ & Miss Petite dress has princess-seamed bodice, back zip, waistline seam & flared skirt. Halter, jewel neck or sweetheart with (optional) lace overlay. Individual patterns for A, B, C & D bust cup sizes included.
Although this pattern description on the first page says "lapped zipper" in the Amazing Fit Description on page 1/4 I see no evidence of that being the case. I used an invisible zip, but in Step 10 they have you install a regular zipper.
This is to be worn in a wedding!
I have four more to make in various body types from petite to extra busty, so I may create separate review as I meet each challenge and use a different fabric.
All the fabrics are cotton, but are from a couple of designers and one is a cotton jacquard.
The princess seams make it easy to fit and there's plenty of room. I made the A cup and it still wants to gape so really fit the top of the view A bodice!
I took in an extra 5/8" on each front princess seam and tapered to nothing using a french curve. This small amount perfected the fit over the bust.
Cotton print, cotton lining. There is a significant amount of boning to buy as well and an invisible zipper if you are using that instead of the regular zip they recommend.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Moved the zipper to the side and removed CB seam in the skirt. I put boning in every seam but the zipper, side left.
I used an invisible zip.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes. It's a good one to make for this latest trend of cotton bridal party dresses.
This dress is pretty, easy and fun if you can get past the pattern envelope styling.
The halter straps tie so you can adjust the fit to what you prefer.
I did all machine finishing on the lined bodice, stitching in the ditch with bobbin thread white and top thread tangerine to match.
Back Bodice Lining
Front bodice lining and side zip...
