|Pattern Description: |
An easy to sew pattern with options for full length and cropped pants, shorts, knee-length skirt, and mini skirt.
I chose to do the knee length skirt (view D) but with the tie adornment seen on the miniskirt (view E.)
This is actually my only issue. I'm a RTW 16/18 and my hip measurements put me solidly at a 24 for this pattern (typically I'm a XL/20/22 in the big 4) The skirt is very roomy. Definitely could have gotten away with the 20. That said, after a couple adjustments this will still be a great skirt I can wear at work or on the weekend. I'm just not sure what size to cut on the shorts I plan on making next.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Very much so.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I struggled a bit understanding the waistband, but I'm still a new sewist. I don't think a more experienced individual would have had a problem.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
The design feels classic and trendy at the same time. It seems like it would work with a wide range of fabrics and patterns well. Even with the sizing issue, I'm certain I'll try this again. Oh, and the pockets look great.
Blue and White Sateen from the Nesa collection at Hancock Fabric from the clearance section. I wanted it for a sundress but they only had a little under two yards.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Definitely. I will definitely go with a smaller size on the skirt. I'm interested in trying the pants and shorts too. I might try the shorts next.
This is my first pattern review, but I've been reading here for months. This is the first place I look before starting a project. I hope this review helps. ALthough my mother is an excellent sewist and I grew up sewing a bit, until recently I hadn't done any apparel sewing in over a decade. I'm really enjoying stretching my skills and I appreciate feedback to making reviews better.
