The Victoria is a casual blazer featuring 3/4 length sleeves, a turned up French seamed cuff and side seam pockets, with cropped and sleeveless variations. Designed with a generous amount of ease for a laid back style, this blazer is the perfect throw-it-over-everything wardrobe staple.
Pattern Sizing: I cut a US 8 / UK 12
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, it did.
Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions were easy, though I did not follow all of them.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I really like how the dart is integrated into the collar seam. I also like the edgy-ness of the square collar and lapels. The instructions end up asking you to sew the entire back bottom edge of the jacket by hand - I hate handsewing and would probably machine sew this next time, leaving a small opening in the lining side seam that can be edgestitched closed by machine.
Fabric Used: I used a silk twill for the outer and a quilting cotton for the lining.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Instead of finishing the outer and lining armholes separately as suggested, I basted them together and finished them with bias tape (go to my blog for more details and pics) Next time I might make some small adjustments to the collar to make it lay flatter.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I would sew this again! Next time I will make the long version with pockets.
Conclusion: Overall, a lovely pattern! I cut and sewed this jacket in a little over 3 hours total!
