Pattern Description: This is such a great versitile top that can be worn in lots of different ways - just leave it up to your creative imagination. Simple to make and simple to wear!
Pattern Sizing:6-24. I made an 8.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, though I don't think the front curves down quite as much as the drawing when worn.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, though I didn't agree with them about taping (ie reinforcing) the shoulders. I think it is more appropriate for set-in sleeves and not cut-on sleeves like this top has.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Likes: the cowl neckline is work-appropriate but not overly modest. I also like the finish of the cowl neckline, which is a folded-over front facing. The cut-on sleeves are very comfortable and well-drafted, and of course I like the fit.
I also liked Style Arc's styling suggestion of using clip-on earrings on the cowl. To me it gives it a more "finished" feel.
Fabric Used:Rayon/lycra jersey (Fabric Mart)
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:I added 1/2" to the back side seam at the hip, did a 3/8" broad back adjustment and a 1/2" narrow shoulder alteration in the front. I also took in the center back seam I added prior to cutting about 2" at the narrowest part of my waist. I also thought it was a little bit long and took off 1.5" from the length.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes! It is a nice simple top that works well with both solids and prints.
