|These jeans are my third item completed and entered into the 2013 UFO Contest. They were started in February 2013. The project stalled because I wanted a zipper in the back, similar to a pair of Donna Karan pants I found online last winter, so the waistband had to be redrafted. I call them my "Pink Floyd Jeans" because the printed quilting cotton used for the pockets and waistband facing reminds me of the beginning of the song "Time". |

Misses fitted jeans featuring classic 5-pocket styling w/ optional back flap pockets, fly front, boot leg, and topstitching. Finished inseam 34".
Size 6-16 (Full Hip 37 to 46). This pair is a size 6 without fit modifications other than narrower legs from the knee down. When I made jeans from this pattern in 2012 using a heavy, non-stretch denim, I used a size 8 modified slightly to fit me.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I think the pattern instructions and photos are great, though I also used the printouts from taking the Blue Prints to Blue Jeans online course in 2012.
Polka dot cotton-lycra twill purchased in 2012 from Homespun, a local independent store
Hot pink silk bias strip used to bind inside waistband edge.
Robert Kaufman "Life's Journey" black & white printed cotton for waistband facing and front inner pockets.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
1. Narrowed the legs by following the instructions from taking Jennifer Stern's "Blue Print to Blue Jeans" class. The original pattern is bootcut.
2. Put a zipper in the center back seam instead of doing a fly front.
3. Left off the front coin pocket; I'm not a fan of putting extra work into pockets that I have no use for.
4. Left off the back pockets.
5. Used two trouser clasps for the waistband above the back zipper.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, I have a piece of blue stretch denim waiting...
I really like this pattern and Jennifer's online class Blue Prints to Blue Jeans.
