The freedom of femininity. A soft flowy maxi dress pattern with plenty of options to choose from: halter top, godet back, and a tank top. The pattern includes full size pattern pieces, glossary of terms, and illustrated instructions in color.
Size 2-18. I used an 8 which is 35/26.5/36.5. My own measurements are 33.25 HB, 36-36.5 FB, 27-27.5 Waist, and 35 Hip.
The size I used worked out great, and most knits are forgiving of measurement differences.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, but I knew it would thanks to the many PR members who have reviewed this pattern.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes! The instructions are in a booklet with color illustrations and pics.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Super fast, super easy project for Intermediate and Adv. Sewists with a classy, yet casual style. Also would be a great project for a Beginner as well.
Teal cotton/lycra from Spandex World in NYC. (Spandexworld.com).
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I was forewarned by other reviewers that the shoulder straps were very narrow and the front neckline was low. Therefore, I made sure the finished straps would be 1" wide and raised the front neckline about a 1/2" (maybe 1"--can't remember the exact amount).
I also lengthened the dress by several inches "just in case". I'm about 5'7" and wanted to make sure there was enough length because some knits have more vertical stretch than others. In retrospect, I ended cutting off most of what I added, but it's definitely better to be safe than sorry.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I already have stitched up a second version ! And of course I would recommend it to others. My daughter has used this pattern several times as a basis for summer tops and has used the pattern for the upper bodice on some dresses she is making as well.
A fabulous pattern, and IMO a must-have in the pattern stash. I plan on making a few more dresses and several more tanks from this pattern. It could easily be shortened into a club dress for the older teen/early 20-something crowd too.
