|Pattern Description: Misses Special Occasion Dresses-I made view D|
Pattern Sizing: 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 (I sewed a 10, should have sewed a 12 in the waist)
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes!
Were the instructions easy to follow? Very easy!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? It goes together pretty easily, but there might be some mistakes in the printing. Also, the cowl is not too deep at all-it's perfect!
Fabric Used: A beautiful border print from a local store, TexStyles. I'm not completely sure of the content, but I'm pretty sure it's a poly-lycra blend. It has great drape.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Many! First of all, I lengthened the bodice by about an inch. I initially cut a size 10 and tapered the skirt to size 14 at the hem because I wanted to have a very swishy hem. Also, my fabric was a border print, with the flowers on both selvedges, so I had to cut it crosswise, on the wrong grain. I don't know if this contributed to my next issue, but I ended up making VERY tiny seams in the waist area-it was too tight!! Maybe I should have just cut a 12 in the first place. C'est la vie! Anyways, it was too long, so I took off some length at the waist seam of the skirt, just because I couldn't take it off the bottom without messing with the pretty flower at the bottom. This seemed to help give me some extra room in the waist (I hope that makes sense). Also, I am not sure if the pattern is misprinted, but it seems like the measurements don't match up at the waist seam-you might want to measure it before cutting out your fabric.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I already have some more fabric to make another one.
Conclusion: Great dress, just check the measurements first at the waist.
