Pattern Description: Princess seamed dress with skirt and bodice variations
Pattern Sizing: I made a sz14
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? I didn't line this dress so couldn't really use the instructions but I read them through and they are fine.
Fabric Used: Silk cotton for the main and a cotton for the underlining
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I raised the bust by 1" and shortened the waist by 1/2". I also shortened it by a few inches. Also added pockets from Simplicity 2588.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes and Yes!
Conclusion: I made this dress for my daughter. She wanted a basic princess seam dress with a pleated skirt and this one worked really well. I'm actually surprised at how few adjustments I had to make to get it to fit her well!
The pattern is meant to be lined but because the cat fabric was so thin I decided to underline with a soft quilting cotton I had. It really helped to give the pleats some body and meant that the seams didn't show through. I finished around the neckline with bias binding.
