"Loose fitting jacket sewn with lapped seams." This pattern is out of print but available on ebay and other sites. Pattern Sizing:
Boys US sizes 10-15. I made two jackets, one size 10 and one that I drafted down to a size 8. Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes. Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, they were clear and straightforward. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
The pattern is an attractive, casual style that my boys liked. The fitting is quite short and wide though. I would make longer and narrower versions if I made this again. Fabric Used:
Faux leather and matching brown fleece. The pattern recommends shearling fabric but I found that treating the pleather and fleece as a single layer was an acceptable compromise. Many of the edges are left raw, so keep this in mind when choosing the fabric. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I left off the top pockets as I'd forgotten to buy the zips! Otherwise no changes. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
If my sons are keen for larger jackets when they grow out of these I would make it again. I would recommend this to others. Conclusion:
It took me a long time to cut out all the fleece and leather for the two jackets, but the sewing was pretty quick and easy and my sons are thrilled with their cool, new jackets.
