Women's Stretch Jeans
I made a size 9, last pair was a size 11, the 9 was 'ambitious' but I can get them on! haha
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Now that this is my second time through this pattern the instructions made so much more sense. I even followed Jalie's instructions for the zipper and it turned out great. The first round I had a really difficult time with the zipper. Also I followed the directions for the waistband - had a tough time with that the first round as well!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like that the back of the jeans are slightly higher than the front, so that means when I squat down there is no 'peeking' I really hate that about some RTW jeans, I do the squat test whenever I try on jeans.
cheap denim from beverlys, it's a dark wash...hoping it softens up a bit, a little on the stiff & scratchy side right now. This fabric has a bit of stretch, but no where near the denim I got from fabric.com. It's heavier, but not as stretchy...
Having real 'jeans' topstitching thread really makes them look pro!
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I made the bottom of the legs more slender...from the knee down - it least 3". I know it's a flare pattern but mine always look like bell bottoms, so I just trimmed them up a bit.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes I love this pattern! I was meaning to make some capri's from it, but I haven't done it yet. Def a KEEPER!! I didn't do any darts in the back like my last pair, for some reason these fit great with no gapping in the back.
I think next time I will try to make the zipper even shorter, for some reason the zipper length always seems crazy long on this pattern.
I really like this pattern, can't wait for the next pair. I'd really like to try some fun denim colors..
(my dog was in a photobombing type mood haha)
you can see where I was going to attempt to do some super fancy 'ass' pocket stitching (yes I was trying to draw out a donkey head haha)
