Pattern Description: A casual blazer featuring 3/4 length sleeves, a turned up French seamed cuff and side seam pockets. With cropped and sleeveless variations. Designed with a generous amount of ease for a lade back style this blazer is the perfect throw-it-over-everything wardrobe staple.
Pattern Sizing: US/UK 2/6 - 16/20
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yep. I made variation 1 and it looked like the line drawing.
Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions that I read were great. Very friendly style too.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like that due to the style (i.e. generous ease) I didn't worry about making a toile, and there were no fitting issues. I worked with my measurements and garment finished measurements teamed with the size charts. I think the way it comes together is very clever.
Fabric Used: A green linen for the outer, with silk cotton blend lining.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I used hong kong finished the armhole seams; I applied the lining to the outer cuff fabric so that the cuff was showing in the lining colour and thus didn't French seam the cuffs. Oh, and I didn't include pockets. I also ran a line of stitching around under the lapels and collar to try to keep the lapels sitting back - but ended up adding tiny tacks by hand to the top and bottom of each lapel as well.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I would sew it again. It's a great quick win jacket that can be changed up a lot depending on the fabrics used. I would also recommend to others if you like the style.
Conclusion: A comfy jacket that came together beautifully. Even those points on the collar and lapels Don't be put off by the funny looking front pattern pieces, when you're sewing it, they make complete sense. You can read more and see more photos on the blog.
