|Pattern Description: |
Top with various views, ruffle cap sleeves optional. I made view E with view C sleeves as I love fluttery sleeves.
Multi-sized pattern. I used the 33 and graded the waist a bit bigger.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
I varied it some, but basically, yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Maybe I should have read the instructions. I ended up not putting the top band in at all...and this was the second time I made the top! It went together well, though.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I liked the ruffle details. Nothing really to dislike, except myself for not following directions
From my stash. It's an embroidered gauze, not sure fiber content, maybe polyester. I'm not sure how long I've had it but I keep seeing it and thinking it would be pretty with something else. After all, it was only 1-1/8 yard remnant. I was very happy to get everything cut out...except the second band
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I eliminated the back facing..er, band. I used the same bias binding they show for finishing the sleeves, then I top-stitched.
I fused the interfacing to the fabric first for front...band, I mean, facing. Then I top-stitched" target="_blank">finished with small edge roll. I applied the facing to the front, then wrapped facing over back shoulder seam.. This makes a nicely finished shoulder seam.
On the sleeves, I attach the ruffle BEFORE sewing side seam. Then apply bias. It is much easier to handle this way. Here, I am trimming before pressing under bias binding.
I used french seams throughout for a RTW look. I also didn't make the front ruffle and sleeve hem as directed. I used a blue to make a serged rolled hem. I think it looks nice.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I was very pleased with the fit and how it looked. I made another one, but that wasn't supposed to look the same. I will be reviewing that one, too.
Maybe next time I'll try it with the band
