Little girl's co-ordinating top and pants. Long sleeved top with flared sleeves and short sleeve version has puff sleeves.
I made a size 2 for my 18 month old and it fits her nicely now with plenty of room to grow into.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes except I did change the sleeves so they look a little different. Essentially it is the same.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes mostly. I thought it was going to be difficult to ease the sleeves in when I was pining them in but when I actually just sat down at my machine with them it just worked beautifully.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like that the little shirt is a bit different from what you can buy in the stores for little girls at the moment. I also really like the elasticated gather at the back as it fits so nicely and makes the fabric hang nicely.
I used a thicker weight cotton with a very smooth face. Colour cream with red stars. I used red candy striped quilting cotton for the lining
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I chose to make a little facing in contrast fabric rather than to use the bias binding as suggested in the pattern.
I also chose to put elastic around the wrist rather than above the elbow as I didn't really like the flared look and I also have made this for the winter season and she can wear this will a merino long sleeved top under it.
I made fabric loops from the contrast fabric and added 3 buttons rather than the two suggested in the pattern as I found gorgeous little red stars that I wanted to use!
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes! I can't wait to make a couple more of these tops, especially for summer with short sleeves.
I enjoyed making this pattern and as a beginner sewer I did enjoy the challenge (and satisfaction) of putting the little sleeves in and this pattern did seem to make this easy. I love the look of this little top on my little one. It is nice and casual, practical and looks comfy for her to wear with jeans or leggings when she is out playing as there is lots of movement in the top for her.
