|Pattern Description: |
This simple dress pattern has a short/long option, elasticized waist, and single button closure on the top back. Fully lined.
6-20. I made the 14, according to finished garment measurements (bust and hips) and it was true to size!
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes! Actually, I think mine turned out better than the cartoon drawing on the envelope... ;)
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes! Very easy to follow and well illustrated. The neckline and armholes are finished by attaching the lining and turning it through the shoulders. Potentially confusing for a beginner, but not too bad.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Liked the simplicity of the lines and lack of complicated closures.
Disliked the bodice length. I'm 5'6" and it could use at least another inch of length above the waist. I really need to just automatically make that change at the start of every pattern cutting.
1 yard of rayon challis from Joann's, and another yard of white poly lining. I had to shorten the skirt by 5" to make my single yard work, but it looks great!
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
None. Word of warning about the depth of the back opening and the possible visibility of your racerback bra straps showing. I tacked mine closed.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes and Yes! It's an easy to make, easy to wear dress. Add a jacket and you're good for cooler temps!
Conclusion: I'll be revisiting this pattern again in the future! If you have a few hours to kill, and a belt in your closet, make this one up.
