|Pattern Description: |
Dress with high round neckline and back zipper has gathered skirt stitched to dart fitted bodice.
I used size 4. Per the back of the envelope comes single-sized 4-12.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes. This is a pattern from the 1960's, so follows the Simplicity "unit system of sewing", but overall pretty easy to put together.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Even though this is a really simple pattern with a basic shape, I love that it has shaping with multiple darts. Two in front, and four in back, both waist and shoulder.
Quilting cotton; my daughter saw it in my stash and liked the print, so she wanted me to make her a dress.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Added 10 inches to the skirt; it's pretty short as drafted. The rick-rack trim was also my own addition.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
It's pretty cute, but I don't have plans for another in this size. I would recommend it to someone looking for a basic girl's dress pattern, particularly if they are trying to fit an extremely slender girl.
Cute, if a bit stereotypical, vintage girl's dress pattern. The simplicity of the pattern lends itself to plenty of options for adding trims or using various fabrics for different looks.
