|Pattern Description: This pattern, bought sometimes in 2007 I think, has variations on your basic "sun dress". I think this is my 6th version of the dress. Last year's version, View F, is hot and I wear it all the time (2012 version blogged here)|
This time I made version D, the halter neck, to make the most of this year's sunshine. See blog post Junk Stitching for more pics and musings on halter necks. These I think really flatter but you need a good fit.
Pattern Sizing: I made size 10 in the bodice, size 12 at hips. I have in the past made the shoulder-strapped version of this dress in jersey, omitting the zip and going down in size. It was one of my fave dresses ever and was worn to disintegration.
Can you tell I love this pattern yet?!
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes (but beware if making the View F as the picture on the envelope has a mistake.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes.
What did you particularly like or dislike / Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: The one thing I don't like about this pattern is that the bodice flares out between the bust and upper bust. I always make the same adjustment in that I make the sides of the bodice straight (i.e. vertical, not diagonal). This helped create a tight (ish) fit which holds up the back of the dress (more on blog post Junk Stitching )
Fabric Used: A very dark perforated cotton underlined with bright green acetate. More pics on blog post Junk Stitching
I love this pattern: it's created the basis of my summer wardrobe these last few years and this time next year, I'll be no doubt making another version of NL 6459 and raving on!!
