|Pattern Description: |
Toddlers Pajamas and Robe with belt. Toddler's and child's pajamas have top with front and back yoke, mock wrap neck and long sleeves and pull on pants with elastic waist. Robe has shawl collar, patch pockets and tie belt
This is for a friend's baby, who is a year and a few months old. I made a size 2 so she can grow in to it.
6 months to 8 years.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
I made a few design changes, but otherwise yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, only got a tiny bit confused about joining the facing (back and front) together as the picture was not very detailed.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I think this would be an excellent project for a more beginner sewer in preparation for making a coat, as this incorporates many of the techniques (facing, collar, hem etc).
A lovely soft cotton flannel, cut twice to make it double sided for extra warmth and softness.
Contrasting blue flannel for pocket and cuff trim, and inside facing and belt.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Added contrast to cuff trim and pockets. Accidentally took off 0.5cm more at shoulder seam than planned as overlocker was on wrong setting (lesson to self, always check settings before starting new project!). Hopefully it wont affect fit too much as I made a size bigger than the child needs.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Good basic pattern with potential for adding decoration - I couldn't just leave it plain, that would be far too dull!
Nice simple project and the size range is great, as you can remake this again in future in the next size up once the child has out grown the existing garment. I've still got enough flannel left to make the PJ's for the baby when she is 3 (thinking ahead here!) so will be revisiting this in future.
