|Pattern Description: |
Pullover dress with or without cap sleeves is shaped slightly A-lined; view D features bias binding. Includes separate pattern pieces for A/B, C, and D cup sizes.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yup - but the dress is so simple, they aren't really needed!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Well this was my 2nd time through. I did a review of the first version, to which I added a self belt. This time, I decided to time myself to see if it really was a one hour pattern. After cutting and interfacing and threading my machine, I checked the time. I got sidetracked with a text conversation with a friend while sewing, but without that time, this was actually done in about an hour.
And how cool is that?!?
A cotton print by Marc Jacobs. Not as flowy as a softer cotton, but definitely cool and comfy.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
This dress is just as designed from the envelope.
This was my 2nd go, and it looks MUCH different from the first because of the fabric. I think for my 3rd, I will shorten it to make it a bit sexier dress, with a different texture fabric. Hey - it's only an hour to experiment!
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I'm for sure sewing this again. I'm loving wearing both versions I made so far. While I think the dress is more attractive with a belt, this one sans belt is very comfy, although not as flattering to my figure. I think a short short dress without a belt will still provide some tummy camouflage, but showing lots of leg in heels will give an overall slimming illusion and therefore still be flattering to me. Stay tuned!
I blogged about this dress here:
A simple dress that sews up in about an hour. Let's see how versatile this pattern can be with different modifications and fabrics!
