|Pattern Description: Simplicity's Learn to Sew pattern collection. Child's, teen's and adults' robe and pet bed.|
Pattern Sizing: XS- XL. I cut a medium.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, very similar.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Ridiculously so. Being's this is one of Simplicity's "Learn to Sew" patterns, they over-explain everything
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? This is not the pattern's fault by any means, but I dislike that the neck is faced instead of including a separate neck band (which I prefer).
Fabric Used: Fuchsia cotton purchased at Fabricville.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I shortened the robe by about 6" to have it around knee-length.
I also modified the sleeves to a more "kimono-style". If I would have left the sleeves as is, they would've been way too long! Keep in mind this is a unisex robe!
Another reviewer noted that the sizing seems generous in the upper body but not so much in the lower, so I think that's something to be aware of
I overlocked a narrow strip of selvage to the shoulder seams to prevent stretching.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I won't sew this for myself as I have a preferred robe style, but I would sew it for someone else and I would recommend it, especially to beginners.
Conclusion: This robe was a surprise gift for my Aunt so I had to guess on the sizing. She was very pleased with it. It was nice to sew for someone else for a change (who I knew would appreciate the work I put into it). Because even simple projects take time
