|Pattern Description: Very loose-fitting. B: Inside ties, (wrong side on sleeve will show).|
View A and B are quite different. I made view A.
Pattern Sizing: 8 - 22. This is very oversized. I usually make a size 10 but the finished bust on the size 8 (the smallest size) is 44", which is plenty big. I used the size 8, but I also cut it way down through the waist and hips.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? No, but I made significant changes. First, as a busty person, I do not like to wear wrap tops, so I converted it to a button front top. I also found it to be far too voluminous through the waist and hips, so I cut that down, too.
Worn open over a tank
Worn closed with the collar folded down
Worn closed with the collar up

Were the instructions easy to follow? They were great! All of the inside raw edges are finished neatly using three different techniques, which I liked.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I LOVE the neckline, which is a modified mandarin, and the sleeve. The hem detail at the sleeve is particularly nice. In fact, I think it's worth buying this pattern for the sleeves alone.
I also love the modified mandarin collar, but it didn't lay against my neck quite as well as I would like, especially when the top is buttoned closed. If I make it again, I will tweak the shape of the collar slightly. I also found that I like the collar worn folded down. It's not horrible when worn closed, but it could be a bit better.
Fabric Used: A novelty cotton. It is a murky green color I call swamp green and is woven to include narrow blue and burgundy ribbons. Both sides can be used as the right side, but are a bit different.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: First, I modified the front and the front facing to be button down. I then added a 1-1/4" vertical only FBA to the front, which is taken up as a dart.
Once I sewed it up, I ended up narrowing the shoulder by 5/8". This is far less than I usually do. I also did not have to shorten the sleeves, and they were perfect. Finally, I did not like how voluminous it was, so I removed a lot of width from the side seams.
Before removing width
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I probably will sew this again and I can definitely see reusing the collar (with a bit of tweaking) and the sleeve on other garments.
Conclusion: I really like this top! I think I will get a lot of wear out of it. More on the blog.
