|This is the second time I have made a dress with this pattern, but this time I noticed some things about the pattern I hadn't noticed before and I made so many mistakes in making it that I thought it deserved another review.|

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Well this time, because I had made the dress once before, I thought I didn't need to follow the instructions. That was a big mistake! I only wanted to line the bodice for a neat finish. I constructed the dress and then constructed the lining for the bodice and sewed them together, right sides together. Onlly to find out there was no way to turn them right side out again of course! So I had to unpick quite a lot of sewing... then I decided to finish the armholes with biastape. I didn't want any sewing to show on the outside so decided to finish it by hand attaching the bias tape to the lining.
I decided to keep the center back zipper that I mistakenly made with the first dress, because it's easier than the side zipper. Then I sewed it on wrong three times before getting it right, and then sewed it on wrong again to the lining.
If I hadn't loved this fabric so much, I might have given up at that time.
Luckily the hem went fine and I now have another pretty dress. But boy did it take a lot of time and effort when I thought I would be able to sew it up in a couple of hours on a friday night.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
One thing I found out about the pattern when making this dress is that the shoulder straps on the back bodice pattern piece are much longer than on the front bodice pattern piece. Because of this, the shoulder seam is in front of my shoulder. The first dress also had this problem, but I thought I must have done something wrong somewhere and because of the busy pattern it doesn't really show. It doesn't really matter on this dress eather, but it is something I will change if I make this dress a third time (and I might because I do still believe I could run it up in a couple of hours on a friday night).
Shoulder seam in front of shoulder
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I raised the neckline about 1 cm in the front. I tried the bodice on before finishing the neckline and I liked it higher with the circles in the pattern so I changed the seam allowance from 1,5 cm to 0,5 cm.
I didn't use the full circle skirt but used my half circle skirt that I made for the other dress with this pattern. This is quickly becoming my favourite skirth width.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes but I would change the shoulder seams. Maybe change the neckline some more for different dresses. I would like to make it with the full skirt.
Still a great pattern but not one for a beginner to make without looking at the instructions, even if you have made it once before... and strange shoulder seam placement but that should be easy to change.
