This is a nice light jacket. It is unlined, has the options for two lengths and can be made with or without a collar. The longer version has side pockets.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I only used the sewing instructions which were okay. There is also instructions for tissue fitting which I didn't do. I did make a muslin though. I tried to follow the instructions for forward rotated shoulder, but it didn't change the fit.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like the side pockets. I like the structure of the jacket, there are side fronts and side backs which gives it a nice shape. I have never sewn princess seams and that a bit of a challenge, but I got through it. I had a very hard time sewing the neck facing and the collar on. I don't know if that was just me (very little experience with collars) or if it was the pattern. I like the back pleat. It was a good pattern choice for my fabric which is very busy.
A print from Kaufman called Effervescence - awesome fabric! For me, the fabric is what makes the jacket stand out
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I had to add some width to the waist and hip areas. Because the fabric is a border print, I cut everything on cross grain. I also shortened the longer version. I wanted the side pockets, but at 5'2", I needed it to be shorter. Mine ends right about at the end of the pockets.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I might. I have several other jacket patterns that I want to make.
I love the end result! I am very pleased with the matching of the jacket style and the fabric.
