Pattern Description: Straight skirt, mid-knee length, has side zipper and faced waistline; skirt A has shaped lower back flounce; skirt B has pleated lower back; skirt C has gathered lower back with self-fabric ruffle; skirt D has two lower back flounces. I made View B, with the back pleats.
Pattern Sizing:4-18. From memory I made the 12 (I think)
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yep. But only after I pegged it in a bit, otherwise it was a bit more boxy than shown.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Very.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the princess seams and the various back flounce/pleat details.
Fabric Used: A vintage wool recycled from my great-great-aunts skirt sewn previously by my grandmother. How awesome it that?
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I pegged in the hem about a 1/2" inch each seam but I next time I will take it in a bit more. And I made a small waistband instead of a facing because I ran out of fabric.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes I will, its a great basic pattern and I do recommend it to others. I'd like to make the version with the flounce (View A) next. Just keep in mind that you will probably need to taper it in a little to get a more fitted flattering look if that is what you are after.
Conclusion: This is a great little basic pattern with interesting details and the princess seams make it so easy to get a great fit. Click Here to read my blog post about it with some more details and photos.
The princess seams also make this a good pattern if you are cutting out of scraps or very little fabric.
