Pattern Description: A man's shirt of casual style; more like RTW than home-made in style. I chose the simplest, quickest View A which has short sleeves (so no tricky cuffs) and no yoke.
Pattern Sizing: I wanted to sew this for a boy (aged 13) so I reduced the pattern on the photocopier from size Small by 80%. Details on how to work out the shrink size on blog post
One advantage of reducing on the photocopier is that all the markings are in proportion, e.g. the buttonholes.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes!
Were the instructions easy to follow?Yes, very.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? Likes: quick and easy; looks very cool. My version didn't require loads of fabric.
Dislikes: it was very tricky sewing across the thick parts of the undercollar (see picture on on blog post) though I suspect it might have been easier on a bigger shirt.
Also, I wish I'd had the foresight to include the yoke from view E, (though I'd have squared it off) as it would have given this shirt an upgrade. But it's fine as it stands.
Fabric Used: Beautiful Liberty Tana Lawn with print of planes (Picture here) called Tom's Jets.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None, except I left off the top buttonhole as I was afraid too many attempts would ruin the fabric.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, can't wait to make one for 'dad'.
