A skirt with a waistband, gathers, and pockets. I made view C.
I cut a 14 for the waistband pieces and a 6 in the skirt because I wanted less fullness (quilting cotton doesn't drape well). I had to take in the whole thing by 5/8" on each side of the center back seam, so it probably ended up being more like a size 10 or 12 waistband.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, they were clear and very thorough.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the pockets and the curved waistband.
Quilting cotton. Sometimes a girl just needs to bust out a novelty print, you know?
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I decided to use an invisible zipper and machine invisible hem instead. I also finished the inside of the waistband differently. The instructions tell you to leave the bottom edge exposed, but I folded it under and stitched it down so it would be neater inside.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
This is the second time I've made this one, so I think I'm ready to retire it for the time being. It's very flattering and comes together easily, and you can dress it up or down depending on fabric choice. I think it's a great project for a beginner who is ready to move up from elastic waist skirts and sack dresses.
I'm ready for Dragon Con now! A full write up and lots more pictures is over on my blog
