|Pattern Description: Wrap front dress has soft pleats, side tie, and sleeve variations. New Look 6215 Mock wrap overlay with curve or straight variations.|
Pattern Sizing: I cut an 8.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? The bodice, yes, the skirt I modified.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, although this pattern is not difficult I wouldn't say it was a "Very Easy" pattern for a beginner.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I think this style is very flattering on most women and judging by the number of reviews, it's quite popular. My first review here.
**I will say, the bodice is quite short. I'm very petite (I'm barely 5 ft 2") and will definitely lengthen the bodice next time, at least an inch or so.
Fabric Used: A polyester/lycra "Barcelona" knit from Fabricville. Just saying "Barcelona knit" makes me feel rather sophisticated;)
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I was inspired by this dress from Banana Republic. I took the bodice from Vogue 8379 and used the skirt from New Look 6097 (minus the pockets) and the pleated front overlay from New Look 6215.
I had originally planned to use the whole skirt from NL 6215, but thought it would be simpler to lengthen the overlay and have it over a regular straight skirt. NL 6215 is meant for woven fabrics, and has a zipper and darts (I couldn't be bothered
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I don't know if I would sew this pattern again with the modifications I added, since it's a unique look, but if you want to go through the effort of mix & matching a few patterns, go for it!
Conclusion: I'm very pleased with how my dress turned out and received some nice compliments wearing it at my brother's wedding
