Close-fitting, A-line, pullover dress above knee. Pattern Sizing:
8-24 Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Not really. I made lots of changes only using this pattern as my starting point. Click Here Click Here Were the instructions easy to follow?
Didn't use them. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
This pattern was perfect for what I had in mind. Fabric Used:
I used a polyester double knit that I am sure is from the '70s. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Using this as my "sloper", I lowered the neckline, added bust darts. Added an inverted darted to the center front. Next I added 3" at the side seam hem and gradually cut back to the actually stitching line at the the underarms. I used McCalls 6559 to add a faux racerback for the dress. Finally I hemmed it as a slightly high-low hem line. It only took me about 1 and 1/2 hours ot complete. See more photos and detail by clicking Click Here. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I've been hit by the "vintage" dress craze and can see myself using this pattern to "design" even more dresses for myself. Conclusion:
What's not to love. I paid $2.50 for this piece of fabric at my local Salvation and even had enough left over to make a tank top, bra and panties! Visit my blog for more details and photos.
