|Pattern Description: |
Lined to edge capelet, darted at shoulders, collar and button closure.
There is a dress, overskirt, and sash pattern also included in this pattern, but I only made the capelet.
Multi-sized from 6-20. I made the size 20.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Mine is puffier, but otherwise looks pretty much the same.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes. The instructions are pretty straightforward for this pattern.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Cute mid-century look.
Faux fur outer, acetate lining.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
The pattern calls for the outer collar and under collar to be of the same fabric. I used lining for the under collar since the faux fur would have been too bulky. I also omitted interfacing for the collar and fronts; I didn't need it.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I don't know when I'd have occasion to make this again, but if I had a reason to, I'd certainly use this pattern again. I would recommend it for someone looking for a mid-century accessory or something to throw on over a cocktail dress to keep from freezing between car and restaurant. The "with modifications" part of my recommendation has to do with those needed to make it up in furry fabric, because I think the pattern is perfect in fur and can't believe it didn't include instructions to make it up that way in the first place.
Cute cape, easy to make, fun to wear. More on my blog
