Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, pretty much!
Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instructions were quite easy to follow, and (probably because it is a pdf) the photos were quite thorough to illustrate the pattern steps.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
My sister-in-law had sent me a catalog photo of a little girl's dress that she really liked, and I had been trying to decide which patterns to frankenpattern together to make her the dress she wanted for my niece. Then I saw this pattern listing and realized that it was basically the dress she liked! So I really like the fact that it was what she wanted and I didn't have to reinvent the wheel. I'm not personally a fan of the apron, but she likes it, so that's good.
Quilting cottons. My SIL sent me the fabrics for the prototype - she was really excited to get to choose, and I was equally happy to not be the one choosing (I'm not good at "matching" different prints/colors for that designer look - to me, they all clash). For the second dress, I saw the ladybug fabric in the store, and it just jumped into my cart. The other two fabrics just seemed to go enough with it to look good, and then I saw the ribbon on another trip and just thought it might really look nice together.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I took the apron off and added ribbon near the hem for the second version. That was it.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
This is the second time I've sewed this, and I would imagine I will do so again, as long as my SIL likes it. ;) I would recommend it to anyone who wants a knot dress like this for a little girl.
This is a nice pattern that gives good results. I also have to mention that the pattern designer welcomes emails with questions. I emailed her when I made the first dress, and she actually responded within an hour! (I was confused as to one step - turns out I just misread the directions.) The steps are laid out clearly, and following them is pretty simple. The sizing seems to be pretty good, based on my SIL's comments on the size 12-18m. It's really easy to end up with a dress that is super cute.
