|Pattern Description: Misses’ & Miss petite Amazing Fit blouse with sleeve and collar variations. Individual pieces for A, B, C & D cups sizes.|
Pattern Sizing: Sizes 6-22, cut a size 12, in the bust and hips and a size 10 in the waist. Worked view C, B cup, without the epaulettes.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? It did, though I don't really feel like the proportions were as flattering on me as they are on the model.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I really don't care for the end product. I'm relatively short (about 5' 3.5") and the length is weird on me. I should have cut a larger size in the hips but usually I don't need to, for tops, because I only get really big in the low hips, while I'm fairly small through the high hip area. Even if I were to shorten this, I don't think I'd wear it. I don't really like the collar or the fake cuffs (they are just pleated at the bottom and a couple of decorative buttons are sewn on.)
I might consider sewing view A in a softer fabric, and with a shorter length, but I'm not in any rush.
Fabric Used: Stretch cotton shirting
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I added a center back seam so I could mirror the asymmetrical stripe pattern.
As usual, I lowered the waist about an inch and lengthened the sleeves for my gorilla arms.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Overall, the reviews are pretty good for this pattern, it's just not a good match for my body shape and style preference.
Conclusion: This is one of several items I've sewn over the past few months and haven't really photographed or posted because it left me feeling pretty uninspired. This is probably the best of that bunch, but not by much. In the end, it gave me a better understanding of what I want in a shirt, so I don't consider it a total loss but I suspect this will end up at goodwill, having never been worn.
