Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, the completed projected did look as the pattern showed. Then also added other details to the final project.
Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions were not clear to me because this was my first pattern I followed. Lucky for my mother was there to help decode the instructions to a more sewing illiterate person.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? This was considered an "easy' pattern, well I have to call bull on that. This pattern included a lining with a zipper as well. Now this would be easy for anyone who knows the basics of sewing but I am still learning. The pattern called for the lining to be sewn under the zipper on the dress skirt and over the zipper on the bodice. Needless to say after sewn and done we quickly realized the zipper needed to come out and the lining needed to be sewn over the zipper on the skirt as well for the more polished store bought dress look (As I always told my mother I wanted as a child).
Fabric Used: Grey and yellow chevron (Nightmare!) and matching floral print. I quickly learned how awful matching fabric prints can be, and probably I didn't choose the fabrics of an "easy" project. As my mother always say I like to make everything difficult.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Thankfully no alterations were needed as my model is a pretty standard size 3 month year old. I did add a self tying grosgrain ribbon to the middle of the dress to break up the two different fabric choices. For a special touch I added three decorative buttons to the bodice and also opted not to used the headband pattern and make my own to match the dress.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Actually I have already discussed my next idea for the dress with my mother. I want to used the sleeve option and Christmas fabrics. Since I do indeed intend to use it again I would absolutely recommend it to any non beginner seamstress.
Conclusion: The dress turned out great, and my baby model looked wonderful in the yellow and grey. Turns out that even though I didn't work well with the fabric it worked well with her.
