A feminine fitted jacket that creates an instant hourglass figure! This great-fitting modern jacket is perfect for work, weekend or a special night out.
Princess seams and peplum seaming form a flattering silhouette. Choose from a flirty double peplum, or keep things simple with flat peplum seaming instead. The collarless neckline allows you to wear your favourite scarves easily! Jacket is fully lined, with pleated sleeve cap detail and zip front closure.
Whether you pick a dressy fabric like brocade, or a weekend fabric like corduroy, this jacket is sure to become a wardrobe favourite!
0-16. I made a size 8.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes it did!
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, instructions were very easy to follow - nothing too surprising. Although it was my first time inserting a separating zipper and there weren't too many details on how to do that. This isn't surprising for a Sewaholic pattern though - generally not for beginners.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I really like the peplums on the side, pleated sleeves and princess seams.
I used a beautiful red wool/rayon blend from Harts Fabrics (lining also from Harts). I love this fabric and it comes in so many fun colors!
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I made a muslin before starting and didn't change anything major except to shorten the sleeves by 1". I made the muslin to check that I liked the look and fit of the double peplum, which I did.
I didn't change the neckline to add any collar of sorts. I think the jacket looks best either unzipped or with a scarf. Completely zipped looks like a motorcycle riding bike to me.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Not sure whether I would sew it again only because it is such a distinctive look/style. Might be cute in a spring version in linen or lightweight cotton though. But I would definitely recommend it to others!
Great pattern, well drafted as always from Sewaholic! More pics on my blog!
