Laura Ashley dress Pattern Sizing:
Size 6-14 Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, I made view "B". Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I liked the simple style of the dress and really liked the collar of view B. Fabric Used:
I used a linen blend found at Hancock Fabric. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I did have to make some alterations. I have full hips, but a small upper body (I'm pear shape). So I used size 10 for the top, used my French curve to gracefully slope out to size 14 in the skirt.
Also, I had read other reviewers comments about the armscye. It was very disappointing that McCall's instructed to use bias tape for finishing the arm holes. Instead I turned under the seam allowance and top stitched the seams closed.
Also, I lined the skirt of my dress as well. The patterns only calls for lining the bodice.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I was very pleased how it turned out. I hope that I can remember my extra steps, if I sew the dress again.
