Misses Tops With Trim Variation: Separate Patterns For B,C,D Cup Sizes
4-20 (I used size 4)
Were the instructions easy to follow?
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like that this is a basic t-shirt pattern that I can use with both woven and knit fabrics. It's also very quick and easy to sew.
Rayon jersey, cotton voile, wool suiting
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Initial Pattern Alterations -SBA that removed the dart -1" sway back adjustment -removed 2" from the length at the hem -removed a total of 1.5" in width at side seams -5/8" broad shoulder adjustment -reduced sleeve cap ease 1/2" in front and 3/8" in back -removed the back seam
Knit t-shirt -used self binding for the neckline -After sewing up the shirt, it was a bit bigger than I wanted for a knit t-shirt and one of the sleeves had stretch a lot. To remedy this, I removed an additional 1/2" from the side seams and evened out the size of the armholes with one continuous seam. I'll sew the sleeves in flat next time I make this in a knit.
Racerback Top -added a 3/4" bust dart back to the pattern because I went a little overboard with the SBA -shortened an additional 1.75" and cut a high low hem -This shirt was supposed to have sleeves but there was a bit of a mishap with the rotary cutter. I didn't have enough fabric to recut the sleeves so I changed it to a racer back style. This change required that I bring in the side seams 1/2" at bust line tapering to nothing at waistline. -used self bias binding for neckline and armholes
Bow Top (started with altered base pattern w/dart added back) -slit the front neckline to be able to get it over my head -added a length of fabric to finish neckline and be able to tie it into a bow
Cropped Top (started with altered base pattern w/dart added back) -shortened to waist length -slimmed and lengthened sleeves -changed neckline to bateau neckline
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes and Yes
This is a very versatile pattern that I plan on sewing many many more times.
