|Pattern Description: |
Tapered, cuffed pants have front seam detail, and elasticized back stitching line. A and B: close-fitting, elastic waist, and topstitching.
I cut a S(8-10) based on measurements from a similar pair of RTW pants. The sizing on this pattern is tricky because it will depend a lot on the stretchiness of the fabric. I think I need to do down a size next time to get a true skinny pant fit.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Mostly yes, although I was disapointed that the leg was not as skinny as the pants in the photo.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, excellent instructions with plenty of information regarding fit and fabric selection.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I liked this pattern for its more substantial than a legging design. The back waist darts help to give a nice fit and the seaming detail on the front leg gives some interest.
Disliked: elastic detail on back leg. This looked like it was pulling the front leg up in the photo so I left it out.
Very loud cotton stretch woven. This was meant to be a wearable toile and the fabric was something I had in the stash, chosen for its stretch rather than the print.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Took the side seams in by 1cm at ankle, tapering back to nothing at hip.
Took 3cm off the length.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes I will, I have a stretch denim that I want to use for this pattern. I think that I need to go down a size though as I am not really happy with the fit, I really want a skinny pant, not a little bit skinny pant!
A great pattern, well drafted and great instructions. A really good inbetween casual and dressy look.
