|Pattern Description: |
Show off those shoulders this spring with an easy racer back pull-over dress that can also be made into a top. The back waist tunnel lets you add a ribbon or fabric belt to cinch in the waist. Use it as a layering piece by putting a knit tank top underneath. The bottom shirttail hem of the blouse gives it just the right amount of sportiness. No closures necessary
Best for woven fabrics
Skill level- Easy
Petite pattern from XXS to 3X. I made XS
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
I think so, except that the samples of SBCC are never photographed on people or dressforms so you have to assume it does match. One comment, the technical sketch does not show that the dress has 2 little pleats at the center front of the neckline.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, not as detailed as the free t-shirt pattern but still excellent. It also helped me a lot to now know that you are supposed to butt pages together and not overlap them.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Nothing to dislike. I completely in love with the fit of these patterns for petite women. The darts are in the right place, the waist too, the neckline is fine, the armholes are perfect and I could go on!!!
Vintage linen blend that I bought at De Gilles during my last trip to Paris in july... Although I usually dislike non natural fibers, this one is beautiful and it does not wrinkle too much.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I took in 1/4" on each side (total reduction is 1') but I would guess this is a personal fit preference. Other than that, NO ALTERATION AND THE FIT IS PERFECT!!! Sorry, I'm a little to excited about that...
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
This is such an easy dress that even if it's a little more casual than my side I very well be sewing it again very soon! I totally recommend it to all the petite seamstresses out there!!
Super fast to sew, super comfortable dress, what is there not to like ? You can see a lot more pictures and my notes on construction on my blog (you can also see a picture of my new Haitian home, in case you care...)!
