|Pattern Description: |
Loose-fitting, pullover top, below hip has self-lined yoke with front neckline variations, pleats, with or without sleeves and cuffs. B: ruffle. C: contrast yoke.
8-10-12-14 (I made size 12)
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, except that I didn't make a contrast yoke as shown for View C.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Really simple, except for the yoke lining -- I got a bit confused at first. Should have followed the tutorial that a previous reviewer shared for this element!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like the variety of options and the overall "swinginess" of this top.
Some kind of wool-synthetic blend. Again, sale table, suiting ends. I had a notion to make a 'girly' top out of a very business-like fabric, and because this fabric was very lightweight and soft I thought it would work out.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I ran out of fabric so had to make it slightly shorter than the pattern, which was a good thing as it is plenty long enough as it is. (keeping in mind that I am quite short as well) Also I wanted to bind the underarm seam with self-binding but had to use black as I ran out of fabric!
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
It's a pretty simple design so I might make it again, though I would use a drapier fabric so it doesn't stand out as much, plus I would definitely take in some of the fullness as it can feel a bit tent-like on a small person!
I like the version I made & the fabric always gets comments. As long as they're not the "when are you expecting" sort of comments -- always a risk with this generous design -- I don't mind!
