|Pattern Description: |
This is a form-fitting sheath dress with great style lines. This is an elegant dress that can be worn to a number of special occasions. You can sew it in a nice metallic like this one for an evening dress, or opt for a printed silk or cotton for a dress perfect for daytime.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes! I made this for a wedding (hence the nice photograph and hair/makeup).
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I didn't really follow them, I changed up the construction to line the dress in a slightly different way such that I could sew the side seams last to play around with the tightness.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I LOVE the pleats at the neckline and the interesting seam lines around the neck and hips. It is such a wonderful, elegant, yet updated sheath dress.
A beautiful wool/silk blend from Mood Fabrics by Carolina Herrera. It was the most expensive fabric I've ever purchased! ($25/yard). I used Bemberg lining for the interior.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I shortened the bodice and took in the side seams.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I would highly recommend this dress. I don't know whether I'll sew it again because I don't need another fancy sheath dress. However, I have been toying with the idea of making the sleeved version with a half-circle skirt in a ponte knit for fall/winter.
Beautiful sheath dress with pleated neckline and fun/interesting seam lines, lending itself to fun fabric combinations. More on my blog, including a second dress I made at the last minute because I was being a spazz.
