|Pattern Description: A trio of contemporary takes on the classic shirtwaist dress. All three versions offer interesting styling options and are seasonless when worn with tights and boots in cooler weather or belted in warmer weather. View A is a classic straight cut, above-the-knee dress that includes chest and hip pockets and three-quarter sleeves with a flip cuff. Select View B for a shorter, tunic-length version with a band collar. For a sweet, feminine look, View C includes a convertible collar, short puffed sleeves, a trim fitted bodice, and gently gathered skirt. Pick the view, or views, to match your style.|
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?Yes!
Were the instructions easy to follow?Yes, very clear
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?I really enjoyed constructing this with some crisp cotton and the directions are great. It was a different and easier collar constructin than I had done before. I made a muslin and cut a 12 rather than my normal 10 based on the muslin. The dress is very straight and I needed the room in the hips. As a result the back was way too full. Not sure it's a pattern flaw so much as a so-so match for my hourglass shape. I will wear it with a belt but probably not without as it just doesn't have any shape otherwise.
Fabric Used:A wonderful quilting cotton that actually worked very well for this project. It had good body but some drape.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:I added long back darts to eliminate the back puffiness shortened by a few inches and used a narrow hem finished with a coverstitch.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?Yes I would, but better for a straighter figure.
Conclusion: In the end I really like this dress and can see wearing it with a cami and some leggings in cooler weather.
