|Pattern Description: |
Jacket, dress, pants and handbag dress. I made the dress.
I made a size 14 with the intention of only doing a bust adjustment. I should have made the size 12.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instructions were clear and easy to follow.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like everything about the pattern ;)
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I intended on only making a minor bust alteration and that is it. HOWEVER, I went against my norm and made a 14 to see if I could wing it and only make a minor bust adjustment... not good. I just need to stick with a size 12 across the board! I wound up taking an inch off everywhere, lol. I will definitely stick with size 12 in the future. Hong Kong seams, all but zipper seam.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I will probably sew it again with a fabric that does not need so much attention to the seams. It adds quite a bit of time to the construction to ensure the seams do not ravel on brocade. In the past items I have made I have used: fray check-however unsightly (quickest and easiest solution for me ;) that completely prevents unraveling), serged edges (easy enough with the serger, but the edges still tend to fray with wear and cleanings), and hong kong seams (I am sure there is fraying going on but it is all hidden inside the seams normally, this time I added fray check to the seams and then encased them ;) , insurance.)
I really like this dress and pattern. The instructions are simple enough for a beginner. Next time I will make the size 12...This one came out great none-the-less.
