Pattern Description: Empire style dresses in two lengths
Pattern Sizing: I cut a size 12 and made no alterations.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, pretty much.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, the instructions were pretty straightforward.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I didn't like inserting the elastic and judging how much to use. Other than that--it was easy.
Fabric Used: I used a light weight denim fabric.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: The only change I made was the ribbon embellishment around the waist. I almost added ribbon to the bottom, but I didn't want to look to juvenile for my age! I also made a fabric flower to match the ribbon.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I probably wouldn't sew it again, since the elastic is a little tedious and I have too many other dresses still on my "to do" pile!
Conclusion: This is a very old pattern that I've had for well over 10 years. I started making a dress many years ago, but gave up when I got frustrated with inserting the elastic neckline. I am pleased with the outcome of this dress. It's a good dress to throw on for running errands on the weekends. The denim keeps it casual, yet I can still feel girly in a dress.
